The federation of climbers of North Ossetia has offered to name one the peaks of the southern slope of the Caucasus mountain range after the former president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, the chairman of the federation, Kazbek Khamitsaev said.
On March 9 several North Ossetian mountaineers will start an expedition aimed at climbing a peak 3400 m high located on the southern slope of the Caucasus Mountains.
Chavez died on Tuesday at the age of 58 in a military hospital in Caracas.
