Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Tourism Operators of Russia, said that many tourists who had bought tickets to Egypt had spent their vacations in Turkey and fewer of them had gone to the Arab Emirates, Bulgaria, Cyprus.
There are still tourists willing to spend their time in Egypt. There are about 5-6 flights to Khurgada and Sharm el-Sheikh to evacuate the remaining tourists. About 5,000 people are staying at Egyptian resorts at the moment.
Lomidze noted that the disorders in Egypt had an impact of about $15-20 million for the market.
The tourism flow to Turkey should increase by 30% in late September, with account of the tourists who switched Egypt to Turkey in August, Bulgaria 15%. A weekly tour in Bulgaria was worth 70-100 euro per person in June-July.
Lomidze said that the tourism flow to Greece, Spain, Croatia, Cyprus and Italy increased by an average of 10%. The flow to Greece increased by 30-35%.
