Flight tickets to Crimea drop in price

Russian President Vladimir Putin has lifted the VAT for flight tickets to Crimea. The VAT will no longer be collected for the tickets starting on June 1, 2014, Lenta.ru reports.

The VAT for the tickets totals 18%.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev proposed increase of the number of flights to Crimea and reduction of ticket prices to 7,000-8,000 rubles in late March. He emphasized that the tickets should cost less than tickets to Turkey and Bulgaria.

Aeroflot announced sales of tickets for flights from Moscow to Simferopol and back for 7,500 rubles in early April. Over half of tickets will be sold at the lowest price.
