About 200 mountaineers have been stranded on the Tian Shan Range in Kyrgyzstan because the MI-8 MTV helicopter used to transport them crashed in Issyk-Kul, K-News reports.
Yeleva Kalashnikova, the president of the Association of Tour Operators, said that there were over 800 foreign mountaineers in the country.
The helicopter was despatched to the Issyk-Kul Region (North Enelchek) on July 18 to save a Russian mountaineer. The pilot lost control of the vehicle after a sudden gust of wind. The helicopter crew and the mountaineer were evacuated by another helicopter. The Russian tourist was taken to the Bishkek City Clinical Hospital.
