British company to develop tourism strategy for Southern Armenia

The Fund for National Competitiveness of Armenia today came to an
agreement with the British consulting firm AECOM, in respect of a
development strategy for the Southern Corridor, News.am reports.
It is envisaged that by developing tourist destinations in the region,
a trip to the south of Armenia, which lasts 4-6 hours, will probably
turn into an interesting four-day journey.


According to the Executive Director of the Fund, Becor Papazian, the
British company will be paid 80 thousand pounds according to the
contract.


The director of the economic part of AECOM, Ben Martin, told reporters
that the South Corridor has 2 major components - a rich history and a
beautiful natural landscape. The formation of a tourist attraction
will be based on these two main points.


The AECOM is one of the largest consulting companies in the world,
with about 51 thousand employees in 2010, providing an income of $6.5
billion so far this year.
