Priorities of the APEC summit in Indonesia

Ambassador-at-large and Russia’s Chief Executive at APEC, Valery Sorokin, spoke about the main priorities of the next summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, which will be held on October 7-8 in Indonesia. APEC is  a forum of 21 economies of the Asia-Pacific region, created for cooperation in the field of regional trade and investment facilitation. The aim of APEC is to increase the economic growth and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. The economies of its member states account for about 40% of the world's population, they also account for about 54% of world GDP and 44% of world trade. The organization was founded in 1989 in Canberra at the initiative of the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand. Russia is interested in participating in the integration projects in the Asia-Pacific region, where Siberia and the Far East play a special role, especially in the energy and transport sectors.
