Vsevolod Chaplin: "The state has to regulate migration processes"

The chairman of the Synodal Department for relations between the church and society, archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, at the press conference dedicated to the Day of National Unity spoke about issues of migration, which should be regulated only by the state, and gives other countries as examples where these issues are successfully coped with.

November 4th in Russia is a state holiday, the Day of National Unity. In many cities, museums opened their doors to visitors for free, costume parades to commemorate the year of 1612 and the militia of Minin and Pozharsky, who saved Russia from the intervention took place on city squares. The Day of National Unity is being celebrated in the country only for the 8th time, but the tradition is much older. For Orthodox Christians, November 4th is the Day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, an important religious holiday. It was with this icon that the militia of Minin and Pozharsky freed Moscow from invaders in 1612. Historians regard their victory as the end of the Time of Troubles.

However for a large number of people November 4th is a day of political action. Nationalists have held the so-called "Russian March" in Lyublino. Organizers claimed that 15,000 people were going to take part in the event. According to the police, almost half of this number appeared.
