Dagestan through the eyes of Yevgeny Lancere

The opening of a unique exhibition project "Dagestan through the eyes of Eugene Lancere" took place in the Sytnyi Dvor gallery in Kolomenskoye.

Painter Yevgeny Lancere was one of the younger generation of the "Mir Iskusstva" (World of Art). He became a prominent Russian graphic artist even before the Revolution.

The exhibition presents a unique collection of drawings, watercolours, gouaches and paintings created by Lancere throughout the years, which is stored in the Dagestani Makhachkala Patimat Gamzatova Museum of Fine Arts. A number of drawings feature ethnographic details of local life. The portraits of locals who knew the painter are also interesting. Several works are related to the life of the Cossacks in the Caucasus.
