Andrey Baklanov: "The question of the participation of Iran should not hinder the negotiation process"

An adviser to the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Ambassador Andrey Baklanov, has commented on the current situation in Syria and talked about whether the Syrian crisis can be settled without involving Iran. On 10 February 2014 the second round of an international peace conference on Syria, Geneva-2, is scheduled to start in Switzerland. Its first round ended without any results. However, the parties, despite radical changes in positions, are ready to continue the dialogue.
