Igor Shishkin: "Russia should not become the object of someone else's geopolitics"

Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Igor Shishkin speaks about geopolitical games for influence in the CIS and Ukraine. The protests in Ukraine, which began as a peaceful protest at the end of November 2013 in response to the suspension of the signing of an association agreement with the EU, has long degenerated into a violent confrontation in which on the side of the opposition today are extremists and nationalists, leading their own political game. The opposition continues requiring from the government more and more concessions, but every time it claims that the steps are insufficient, thereby encouraging the protesters to radicalize, pandering to the establishment of anarchy and disorder. Europe and the U.S., urging Ukrainians to dialogue and a peaceful resolution of the conflict, in fact, plunge the country into more chaos, which they would never allow in their countries and would prevent it not by those "democratic" methods, which they require of Ukraine.
