The presentation of a six-volume edition of "Russian World in the Twentieth Century" took place at the World Trade Center in Moscow. The publication was prepared by a group of authors from the Association of Researchers of Russian Society under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. The books describe the history of Russians abroad until 2000. Each volume covers a certain period in history. The major themes are attitudes in Russia towards immigration, approximate numbers, the employment and geography of emigrants in the world, laws and regulations defining the status of immigrants in different countries and the degree of association of representatives of the Russian world in different countries. While working on the book, researchers created a unique online database which is now available to the public. Gennady Bordyugov, the president of the Association of Researchers of Russian Society and contributor to the project, talks about the importance of the six-volume work in understanding of the Russian world.
