On December 18 an award ceremony "Sports facilities. The results of the year" took place at the Otkrytie Arena stadium in Moscow. The annual contest is organized by the SportsFacilities magazine in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Sport.
More than 50 sports facilities of the country were short-listed for the contest. This award marks the best sports facilities built in Russia in recent years. Among its nominees were such complexes as the Khimki Arena, the Sochi Circuit, the Akhmat Arena, the Pearl of Siberia, the Athletics Arena in Tyumen and many others.
The deputy minister of Sports of Russia, Pavel Novikov, thanked the organizers and participants of the ceremony, who contributed to the implementation of the Federal Target Program entitled "Development of physical culture and sports in Russia from 2006-2015." The purpose of this program is to accustom Russians to do sports regularly.
The Chaika swimming complex at the Armkhi ski resort was recognized as the best swimming pool in Russia. The complex opened in the summer of 2014 and has already hosted a number of nationwide sports events. Contemporary technology, compliance with international standards and exotic environment make Chaika a prominent swimming pool. The award was presented to the Senator from Ingushetia, Akhmed Palankoev.
