Vitaly Naumkin: “The developments in France promoted radicalization of Islamic movements”

Speaking about the dramatic events in France, Vitaly Naumkin, the director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, notes that they encouraged radicalization of Islamic movements in various regions of the world. A series of terrorist attacks began in France on January 7th, when two terrorists burst into the office of the French magazine Charlie Hebdo and opened fire on people. 12 people were killed. On January 9th the suspects – the brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi – were killed by special forces 40 km from Paris.
