Abel Aganbegyan, the head of the Department of Economic Theory and Politics of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, comments on the current economic situation in Russia and notes that the economy of the country is in recession. On January 21st President Putin expressed his assurance at a session of the cabinet that the economic difficulties would be overcome. He reminded that it is necessary “to improve sovereignty in the economic sphere, remaining an integral and natural part of the world economy.”
