On January 15-18th 2004 the first president of Chechnya, Ahmad Kadyrov, visited Saudi Arabia. The historic visit was the start of building a peaceful life in the Chechen Republic and a new stage in relations between Russia and the Saudi monarchy. Vestnik Kavkaza interviewed Andrey Baklanov, a Russian scholar of Oriental studies and expert in international relations, about the event.
