Presentation of the book History of the Great Terror in Azerbaijan by Eldar Ismailov

The presentation of the book of the Azerbaijani historian Eldar Ismayilov ‘‘History great terror in Azerbaijan’’ have taken place at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. The event was organized by the MGIMO Azerbaijan Club. The book was published by the Moscow publishing house "ROSSPEN" in the context of the scientific and publishing project "History of Stalinism." The famous historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor of the Baku State University, the late Eldar Ismailov, the author of 10 books and over 100 articles on various periods of the modern history of Azerbaijan and Russia, presented in this work a deep analysis of the life of the Azerbaijan SSR at the time of the Stalin’s repressions in 1936-1938 respectively. It was made on the basis of numerous documents, archives of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Russian Federation. According to the author, the "Great Terror" in the Azerbaijan SSR was not directed against Azerbaijan. Its victims were Soviet citizens regardless of their nationality or religion. However, repressions were a real national tragedy, which led to the loss of confidence many nationalities inhabiting the country in respect of authorities.
