Why did the US bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki, historian asks

A Senior Researcher of the 21st Division of the Scientific Research Institute (of military history) of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Arkady Cherepakhin, believes that the bombing of the civilian cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was in fact a demonstration of US military power in response to the growing influence of the Soviet Union in the world.
