Yesterday Die Welt published an article headlined 'Die Flut weckt traumatische Erinnerungen' ('Flooding causes traumatic recollections') devoted to severe floods in Russia's Krasnodar region. The author of the article, Michael Stürmer, believes that the flooding was caused by the authorities' misconduct.
President Putin also seems not to care enough about the tragedy, the author says. He should have met with victims and ensured a fair investigation into the disaster.
In general it's quite common for Russian officials to pay no attention to the security and well-being of the people, Stürmer says.
