World press on Iranian crisis (February 6, 2013)

Süddeutsche Zeitung has recently published an interview with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.

The minister told Stefan Kornelius and Paul-Anton Krüger that the talks between Iran and the 5+1 group (the USA, the UK, France, China, Russia and Germany) are moving the right direction. "We trying to find a compromise solution acceptable for all parties, but such solution should be based on mutual respect," Salehi said.

Concerning the coming talks in Kazakhstan, Salehi said, "We are not expecting an easy way out, but a positive breakthrough would be a good thing."

According to Salehi, the 5+1 group should establish a mechanism, which will allow Iran to develop peaceful atomic energy, but this will mean that the Western powers should lift all sanctions against the Islamic Republic, Kornelius and Krüger write.

"The main problem today is the lack of trust," Salehi said. "The Western powers are trying to hold talks with us, but at the same time impose sanction on our country," the minister added.
