World press on political crisis in Georgia (February 27, 2013)

Der Standard published an article devoted to the unfolding political crisis in Georgia headlined 'Saakaschwilis Macht wird von Georgiens Regierung eingeschränkt' ('The Georgian government will restrict Saakashvili's power').

According to the head of the Georgian parliament's committee for EU ties, Tinatin Khidasheli, Georgia will soon transform into a parliamentary republic. The official said that nowadays the Georgian president has absolute power similar only to that of Turkmen leaders, the article reads.

Tinatin Khidasheli said also that such a transformation is especially important now, when the president and the prime minister are representatives of different political parties. The current political system of Georgia is 'a bomb that can explode at any moment,' the official said.
