World Press on Possible US Operation Against Iran (March 16, 2013)

It will Iran take only a year to develop nuclear weapons, US President Barack Obama told Israel's Channel 2 ahead of his visit to the country, Süddeutsche Zeitung writes. The president noted that it was among the top priorities of the US not to allow Iran to obtain a nuclear bomb.

"The United States will do everything to prevent the success of the Iranian nuclear programme," Obama is quoted as saying. Thus the president is seriously considering a military operation against the Islamic Republic, Süddeutsche Zeitung writes.

"If a diplomatic solution was possible, it would be the best way out of the crisis," President Obama said.

The US president decided to visit Israel in order to discuss the Iranian nuclear programme with Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, who has recently formed a new government, the newspaper informs.
