Heydar Aliyev's ideology of multiculturalism presented in Moscow

The international scientific conference titled "Heydar Aliyev: the ideology of multiculturalism and tolerance" was held at Pushkin State Russian Language Institute. "Azerbaijan is a Eurasian state, a place of crossing of different cultures that have existed there for many hundreds of years. We are pleased to note that Azerbaijan has become one of the first countries to open the Pushkin Institute's partnership center. It was one of the most solemn openings, one of the most successful openings. We opened this center before others under the "Russian Language" federal target program," Vice-Rector of the Institute Science Mikhail Osadchy said, opening the forum.

Head of the "Center of Russian Studies" research laboratory at the Azerbaijan University of Languages Mammad Aliyev presented the book 'President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism,' which was published in Azerbaijani, Russian and English. The book includes remarks about the model of multiculturalism from interviews and speeches since 2003, as well as projects implemented at the initiative and under the leadership of the head of state to develop multiculturalism and intercultural and interfaith dialogue, as well as the successes achieved in this area both in the country and abroad.

"Today, multiculturalism has become the brand of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani people... Since independence after the collapse of the Soviet empire, the correlation of national and religious values have been researched by many scientists. This was due to the fact that for 70 years the Azerbaijani people has not lost interest in their national roots, in the dominant religion of modern Azerbaijan - Islam. But it should be noted that the process of building new democratic Azerbaijan is connected with activities of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev," Mammad Aliyev said.

"Heydar Aliyev is the founder of modern democratic Azerbaijan, and this year we celebrate the 95th anniversary of this outstanding politician, a man who contributed to the development of not only Azerbaijan, but the entire post-Soviet space," an advisor to the Azerbaijani embassy in Moscow Vugar Imamaliyev recalled.

"We live in the era of globalization. This is a process of gains and losses. Win some, lose some. One of the pressing problems that arises in the era of globalization is the need for different cultures, people with different cultures, languages and nationalities to co-exist," head of the Department of Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages at the Azerbaijan University of Languages, Gulnara Huseynzade, noted.

The dean of the Department of Philology at the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, Andrei Shcherbakov, summed up results of the conference: "Such events are always a good opportunity to exchange experiences, information and opinions on the most important, relevant, both in scientific and social terms, issues. If we talk about the development of the countries, about friendship between our countries, then the principles laid down and formulated by Heydar Aliyev should be embodied and become the ideological basis for the development and prosperity of our countries."
