Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia, Azerbaijan's candidate for the post of UNESCO Director General Polad Bulbul oglu, visited Germany on June 21-23. His visit was organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Berlin and was aimed at presenting the Azerbaijani candidate to the post of UNESCO, as well as its program, in Germany, the press service of the embassy told Vestnik Kavkaza.

During the visit, Polad Bulbul oglu met with the Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany Maria Böhmer, responsible for the ministry's relations with UNESCO. He also met with the Director for Research and Academic Relations Policy and Cultural Relations Policy Heidrun Tempel, Chairman of the Germany-South Caucasus Parliamentary Friendship Group Karin Strenz and her deputy in this parliamentary group Johannes Kahrs; Head of Division at the Federal Chancellery for Bilateral Relations with the States of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe Knut Abraham, as well as head of the department on Global Issues, the UN and Development Policy Mathias Licharz.

During the meetings, Polad Bulbul oglu spoke about his views on the future activities of UNESCO, announcing his priorities if elected the UNESCO director-general. The sides also exchanged views on the German side's approach to the issues of UNESCO.
