Uzbek delegation visits historic city of Shusha

A delegation from Uzbekistan visited Shusha, Azerbaijan, today as part of the ongoing Days of Uzbek Culture festival in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture reported.

The delegation toured several major historical and cultural sites, including monuments dedicated to Natavan, Bülbül, and Uzeyir Hajibeyli; the historic residence and spring of poet Khurshidbanu Natavan; the Shusha Fortress; the Govhar Agha Mosque; and the Bülbül Memorial House Museum.

During their tour, delegates learned about Shusha's rich history and its prominent cultural figures. They were also briefed on the vandalism committed during the Armenian occupation. The delegates also learned about the city's subsequent liberation in the 2020 Patriotic War.

 

Officials informed the delegation that since its liberation, Shusha has undergone a comprehensive reconstruction program, with historic and religious monuments restored and former internally displaced persons gradually returning to their homes.
