Russia assesses first G20 Sherpa meeting in Washington

G20 Russian Representative Svetlana Lukash expressed appreciation for multilateral discussions with international counterparts during the Washington meeting.

"We highly appreciate the results of the first Sherpa meeting in Washington",

Svetlana Lukash said.

The December 15-16 consultations represent the first Sherpa meeting under US G20 presidency, with the final summit of the leaders scheduled for December 2026 in Miami.

Lukash previously stated that Washington was preparing for the possible arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit.

The 2025 G20 leaders' summit took place in Johannesburg on November 22-23.
