 6th day of XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival kicks off in Baku

The XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival is being held in Baku.

Gymnasts, judokas, swimmers, athletes and tennis players will be competing for 30 sets of medals on the fifth day of the festival, games will be also held between the tennis, basketball, volleyball and handball teams. 

The men's and women's individual apparatus finals will be held today. Azerbaijan will be represented by Samad Mammadli (individual exercises and pommel horse).

The judokas will be performing at 09:30 Moscow time, the finals will start at 15:00 Moscow time. Azerbaijan will be represented by Maharram Imamverdiyev (81kg), Ruslan Nasirli (90kg), Huseyn Mammadov (90+kg) and Narmin Amirli (70kg).

In athletics, the qualifying competitions in men's discus throw, as well as men's and women's 4x200 m will be held today. The finals will be held in men's and women's high jump, women's triple jump, men's 400m hurdles, women's 4x200 m, men's shot put, women's javelin throw, women's 5000 walk and men's 3000 m.

The qualifying competitions and finals will be held in the swimming competitions. Swimmers are competing for medals in men's 400 m complex, men's 200m freestyle, men's 100m butterfly, men's 4x100m medley, women's 50 and 800m freestyle and women's 4x100m medley.

Russia is leading in the medal standings with 18 gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze. Azerbaijan ranks second with 9 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals. The third place is held by Turkey with 8 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals.

The XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival is being held in Baku on July 21-27. The festival will be attended by more than 3,900 athletes from 48 European countries. Athletes will compete in ten kinds of sports - gymnastics, athletics, basketball, cycling, handball, judo, swimming, tennis, volleyball and wrestling. In total, athletes will compete for 135 sets of medals.
