Russia recorded a decline in alcohol and tobacco consumption in 2016, Russian newspaper Izvestiya reported.
The number of patients diagnosed with alcoholism fell by 36% and the number of alcoholics registered in treatment-and-prophylactic establishments decreased by 24%, Rospotrebnadzor said in a report.
It added that tobacco consumption decreased by 39% among the adult population.
Rospotrebnadzor is considering a new version of the anti-tobacco concept that equates e-cigarettes with the traditional ones.
