According to State Department spokesman Mark Toner, the US has expressed its intention to receive 1.8 thousand refugees from Syria in the current fiscal year, which ends in October.
He added that the US authorities are carefully examining all the refugees from the Middle East. It could take about one and a half, or even two years.
Toner also described the situation with refugees in Europe as "very complicated" and added that he expects that the European authorities will resolve this problem "in the spirit of humanism," RIA Novosti reports.
