Armenia's government to give computer to chess player Aronyan as gift

The Armenian government decided today to release $133,300 for the Chess Federation. The country's Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Gabriel Ghazaryan said the money will be spent on preparing Armenia’s best chess player Levon Aronyan for fighting for the champion’s title with the help of up-to-date computer equipment.

"We believe that Levon Aronyan is the chess player who can fight for the title," ARKA cited Ghazaryan as saying.

The minister also noted that for the first time the government officially allocates funds to the Chess Federation for the preparation of an applicant.

Aronyan is a three-time Olympic chess champion, winner of the world team championship, World Cup and is ranked by FIDE as the 4th best chess players in the world.
