The international airport of Astana has been officially named as 'Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport'.
The corresponding decree was signed by the country's Prime Minister Bakitzhan Sagintayev. The resolution comes into force since the day of its official publication.
Besides airport, some other things in Kazakhstan like streets, university, and money bear the name of the strongman. There is a Nazarbayev University in Astana. There is also a whole town named Nurkent in the Almaty region, AKIpress reported.
In November last year, a member of the Kazakh parliament suggested to rename the capital city into either Nursultan or Nazarbayev, however the president did not like the idea.
