"Auchan" stays in Russia

The French company "Auchan" will continue its work in Russia, as it acts in the interests of the country's population. This was stated by the CEO of the company, Yves Claude, to the newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche.

"We have never had another goal. I am ready to accept public opinion that disagrees with us. It is easy to criticize us, but we are open and operate for the civilian population", Claude said.

He noted that the retailer will retain employees (there are about 30,000 of them in the Russian stores) and will continue to "feed the population of the two countries".

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had called on French companies to leave Russia.

It is worth noting that other French companies, including Danone, Leroy Merlin and Decathlon, also do not plan to stop working in Russia. This was announced by the head of the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF) Geoffroy Roux de Bezieux.
