Director of the museum, chairman of the National Committee of ICOM Azerbaijan, Art History Ph.D. Shirin Melikova stressed that the significant task of the Azerbaijani Carpet Museum, along with the storage and demonstration of carpets, is the preservation of the traditions of the carpet weaving and the transfer of secrets of this art to descendants. She congratulated all the carpet weavers and in particular the employees of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum on a professional holiday.

In addition, it was noted that the law ‘On the preservation and development of Azerbaijani carpet art’ and the establishment of a professional holiday - The Carpet Weavers Day - are vivid examples of the state's attention to this field and the concern shown in relation to the ancient art of Azerbaijani people.

Recall that the carpet art of Azerbaijan has an ancient history. Azerbaijani carpets are kept in museums and private collections around the world. In 2010, Azerbaijani carpet art entered the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
