Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan, Hasan Zeynalov. The diplomat presented his credentials to the head of state.
The president stressed the special importance which Turkmenistan attaches to strengthening bilateral relations, adding that they are based on the traditions of friendship and principles of mutually beneficial cooperation.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for its support of Turkmenistan's international initiatives, which are aimed at creating a new architecture of global security and transformation of Central Asia and the Caspian region into a zone of peace, stability and sustainable development.
The sides noted a solid potential for the expansion of trade and economic relations, intensification of business contacts in the field of energy security.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Hasan Zeynalov stressed the role of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, noted the importance of holding regular ministerial consultations aimed at strengthening constructive dialogue.
In addition, the sides called for developing cooperation in such areas as education, science, culture, arts, sports and tourism, Trend reports.
