The links between the Caucasian gymnasts and the gymnastic federations are extremely strong, the Vice President of Georgian Gymnastics Federation, Besarion Gamsakhurdia, told Vestnik Kavkaza on the eve of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku.
"We are always in contact with the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, the athletes of our countries are friends and respect each other very much. Now there are two new gymnasts in Azerbaijan's national gymnastic team, Bence Talas from Hungary is among them. There has always been friendship between our peoples, I have a lot of friends in Azerbaijan, starting with the AGF Secretary General Farid Gaibov, we respect each other very much," he said.
The main task of the Georgian gymnasts at this tournament is to advance to the finals, where they will compete for medals. "Now we brought three gymnasts and one female gymnast. Above all, we hope for the results in the vault," Besarion Gamsakhurdia expects.
Vice President of Georgian Gymnastics Federation thanked the AGF for organizing the tournament. "The competitions are organized at a very high level. I would like to thank the organizers: the level of the World Cup is high, but the level of the Baku Organizing Committee is even higher. Everything is great," he confessed.
"There is a wonderful arena in Baku with a great hall and exceptional conditions for training. The judiciary computer system works at the highest level. I like new lighting because it creates good visibility for spectators and focuses attention on gymnasts and apparatus," Besarion Gamsakhurdia added.
The FIG Artistic Gymnastics Individual Apparatus World Cup will be held in Baku on March 16-19. Athletes from 23 countries will compete for 10 medal sets.
