Catalogue of exhibition "Heydar Aliyev: Personality, Mission, Heritage" published in Moscow

Catalogue of exhibition "Heydar Aliyev: Personality, Mission, Heritage", which is based on Russian-Azerbaijani historical and documentary exhibition of the same name dedicated to the 95th anniversary of birth of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, has been published in Moscow. Exhibition was organized by Presidential Administration of Russia, Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Heydar Aliyev Center, the Federal Archival Agency and the Russian State Economic Archive.

This catalogue consists of photos and documents presented at the exhibition, each of exhibits is accompanied by descriptions in Russian and Azerbaijani. Photos cover the entire life of Heydar Aliyev, including his childhood and youth, work in the state security bodies, administration of the Azerbaijani SSR, work in the Council of Ministers of the USSR and leadership in the independent Azerbaijan Republic. Last two chapters focus on Russian-Azerbaijani political contacts.

It is noted in foreword of this catalogue that biographers, colleagues and friends of Heydar Aliyev agree that his main virtues were selfless devotion to his homeland and sincere love for his people. He always remembered that he works and lives for people and for his native Azerbaijan. Various qualities allowed Heydar Aliyev to lead the republic's security agencies, lead the republic whet it was a part of the Soviet Union, successfully work as first deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

Unique experience gained in the Soviet system of state administration, deep knowledge of history and understanding of modern realities, political foresight, sincere concern for his own people allowed Heydar Aliyev to build effective policy of independent Azerbaijan and lay foundations of Russian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership. Heydar Alievich Aliev helped to connect modern Russia and Azerbaijan, he's a man who built strong and reliable bridge of mutual relations between our countries.

In addition to organizers, photos and photocopies of documents were provided by the press service of the President of Russia, the Foreign Ministry Russia, the Defense Ministry of Russia, the Health Ministry of Russia, the Culture Ministry of Russia, the Central Archive of the Federal Security Service, the Moscow Patriarchate, the State Archive of Russia, the State Archive of Film and Photo Documents, the State Archive of Literature and Art, the State Archive of Contemporary History, the State Museum of Political History and the State Institute of Russian Language named after Pushkin.

From Azerbaijani side, photos were provided by the Archive of Political Documents of under Administrative Department of the President of Azerbaijan, the Archive of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan, the State Information Agency AzerTAc and the Archives Department of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic.

These materials show diversity of Heydar Aliyev's personality, help to understand his historical mission, learn about heritage of the national leader of Azerbaijan. Some documents and photos presented in this catalogue are published for the first time.
