Cavusoglu: if someone confuses NPP with nuclear weapons, it's not our fault

The Akkuyu project launched two days ago will be Turkey’s first nuclear power plant and will cover 10% of the country’s electricity needs, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

"Turkey’s economy is growing. The Akkuyu NPP will not be enough," the minister noted. "Work is underway together with Japan to lay the foundation of another nuclear power plant in the Turkish city of Sinop."

"There are NPPs all over the world. If someone does not know the difference between these stations and nuclear weapons, it's not our fault," Cavusoglu said, emphasizing that Turkey always stands against nuclear weapons, APA reported.

Cavusoglu is visiting Baku to attend the Non-Aligned Movement Mid-Term Ministerial Conference, titled "Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development".
