Christine Lagarde: world economy is recovering too slowly

The world economy is continuing to recover, but risks are increasing, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde has warned.

"The good news is that the recovery continues. We have growth. We are not in a crisis. The not-so-good news is that the recovery remains too slow, too fragile, and risks are increasing," Lagarde noted.

"We are on alert, not alarm. If central banks and regulators can confront the challenges and act together, the positive effects on global confidence and the global economy will be substantial," Interfax cited her as saying.

A new World Economic Outlook will be published next week. The IMF predicted growth of 3.4% this year.
