Coronavirus halts Hyundai and KIA production

Hyundai and KIA suspended production in its South Korea manufacturing plants due to supply chain problems caused by the coronavirus outbreak in China.

The world's fifth-largest automaker Hyundai said that the suspension is a result of "disruptions in the supply of parts resulting from the coronavirus outbreak in China."

In China, global automakers have already extended factory closures in line with government guidelines. Those manufacturers include Hyundai, Tesla, Ford, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Nissan and Honda Motor Company.

Most of Hyundai's seven South Korean factories will be shut down from 7 February for three or four days, Reuters reported.
