Davutoglu: Turkish authorities do not want to break up with Russia

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu said that Ankara does not want to break off relations with Moscow because of the downed Russian Su-24 aircraft.

"We don't have and cannot have any intentions to sever ties with Russia after this incident, or to remain in a tense state. Russia is our neighbor, friend and very important partner. Bilateral relations cannot be sacrificed," he said.

However, Davutoglu said that "when it comes to ensuring national security, any, even the most friendly relations, should be based on respect for each country's right to defend its territory," RIA Novosti reports.
