Dmitry Mezentsev appointed new Russia's Envoy to Belarus

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed executive order appointing Dmitry Mezentsev Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus, according to the statement published on the Kremlin website.

By another executive order, the head of state released Mikhail Babich from the post of Russia’s Ambassador to Belarus and from the position of Special Presidential Representative for Expanding Trade and Economic Cooperation with the Republic of Belarus. Babich took up office on August 24, 2018.

Dmitry Mezentsev was born in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) on August 18, 1959. He has served as chair of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy since 2017.
