The EU may lift visa requirements for Georgian citizens by the summer of this year, the European Commissioner for Migration, Interior Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, said at a joint briefing with the Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
According to him, "the European Commission will put forward the legislative proposal to the EU member states and the European Parliament". "The final decision will be taken by the Council and the European Parliament. Maybe earlier, maybe around summer," Sputnik Georgia cited the European Commissioner as saying.
Also, Avramopoulos said that Georgia has fulfilled all the benchmarks of the Visa Liberalization Action Plan.
