The Chief of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Elchin Guliyev, met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Hulusi Akar, to discuss the prospects of bilateral cooperation.
The Chief of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan informed his guest about the operational situation on the Azerbaijani borders. He also briefed Akar about measures to combat illegal migration, smuggling and other forms of cross-border crimes.
The sides exchanged views on strengthening border security and joint exercises.
In addition, Elchin Guliyev presented Hulusi Acar with the medal '95th Anniversary of the Border Guard of Azerbaijan (1919-2014)' for active cooperation with the State Border Service, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
