Erdogan would not be upset if EU visa deal collapses

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he would not be upset if the European Union did not simplify its visa regime for Turkish citizens.

"I believe that sooner or later the EU will simplify the visa regime with Turkey. But even if this does not happen, I personally as a Turkish president will not grieve," Erdogan said.

He accused Brussels of hypocrisy "when, on the one hand, visa regimes are simplified for a number of Latin American countries, while on the other keeps visas for citizens of Turkey, with which it is holding membership talks," Sputnik reports.

Turkish Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin ruled out the possibility of Ankara making concessions in its anti-terror legislation to pave way toward a visa-free regime with the 28-member bloc.
