The solemn opening ceremony of the 11th European Championships in Aerobic Gymnastics is underway at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza reported.
President of the European Union of Gymnastics Farid Gaibov addressed the audience. He noted that Baku is hosting the European Aerobic Gymnastics Championships for the first time, and stressed that, as always, the competitions are organized at a high level. Farid Gaibov thanked President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation Mehriban Aliyeva and members of the organizing committee.
The qualifications among juniors - an individual program an individual program among women, trios, and aerobic dance were already held today: the Azerbaijani team reached the aerobic dance finals.
The junior qualifications among men, mixed pairs and groups will be held after the opening ceremony.
The European Aerobic Gymnastics Championships is being held in Baku for the first time. During three-day championships, senior and junior gymnasts will compete in the programs of 'Individual Women', 'Individual Men', 'Mixed Pairs', 'Trios', 'Groups', as well as 'Aerobic Dance', 'Aerobic Step' (only seniors). In the team competition, the winners will be defined for the five best performances. The championships will bring together gymnasts from 22 countries. In total, the gymnasts will compete for 15 medal sets.
