European politicians who think that days of liberal values are over are the biggest threat to the European Union, European Commission Vice President Jyrki Katainen said.
"The rule of law and liberal democracy is under threat at the moment," Katainen said, calling it Europe’s "biggest internal threat." He added that today’s populism is "not just normal populism."
"I know there are people who think it is, but it’s not. Liberal democracy has never been under such attack since the collapse of the Soviet Union," Politico cited the European Commission Vice President as saying.
