Azerbaijan is a beautiful country, which make you want to come back again, famous American boxer Evander Holyfield said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of the 55th Annual Convention of the World Boxing Council (WBC) in Baku.
"It's a beautiful country. And this country is not about what you see, but about the people you meet here. And judging by the people who run Azerbaijan, it appears to be a beautiful country. When you go places like this, you cannot but to come back again," he admitted.
Holyfield also positively assessed the holding of the 55th World Boxing Council Convention in Baku. "It is important that the World Boxing Council brings people together and I truly believe that they are the only one there who promote their brand. That is why we need to bring the fighters together and say 'how can we do things to make boxing better'. And I think if all other associations think the same, it would be better for everyone," the boxer stressed.
It is also important to explain to people what reforms are proposed by the World Boxing Council. "Mauricio Suleiman represented the reforms greatly during his speech, but someone has to get the information to people who are not here, it's obvious that the people here believe that that they can work. It is necessary that people were aware of the innovations. I travel to different countries, sharing my knowledge, so that someone has the opportunity to become better," Evander Holyfield said.
"Everybody were not meant to be fighters, but everybody were meant to be doctors, lawyers, there is something for everybody." Nobody choose their parents, their neighborhood ad all that, but some people just grow up and go on, they see their goal, that they were meant to boxing. "I knew from my childhood that I was meant to boxing but I cannot say that my environment, my family did something for my way. I made myself, put a lot of effort in. Everything I did was a challenge. Boxing is a confrontation, who is the strongest, who is the best, who can do all this, who can handle more pain," he concluded.
