First coronavirus infections identified in Russia

Two persons infected with coronavirus have been identified in Russia, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said, adding that both are Chinese citizens.

"The Rospobrebnadzor [Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being] services have identified two persons infected with coronavirus in Russia - in the Trans-Baikal Region and the Tyumen Region. They are under strict surveillance. They have been isolated, and necessary assistance has been provided to them," TASS cited her as saying.

The condition of the patients is stable, without clinical manifestations or high temperature, the Rospotrebnadzor said.

Golikova also said that Russia will evacuate its citizens from China's Hubei province. According to preliminary information, currently, there are 300 Russians in Wuhan, while 341 more are residing in other parts of Hubei province.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that all direct flights to China from Russia would be halted from 21:00 GMT on Friday, with the exception of national airline Aeroflot.

As of today, the number of those infected with the novel 2019-nCoV coronavirus-induced pneumonia in China exceeded 9,900 with 213 people dead. The National Health Commission reported 171 cases have been cured.
