Today Azerbaijan is an important mediator in the establishment of dialogue and trust between countries of all levels, the former Secretary of State of the Russian SFSR, Soviet and Russian statesman Gennady Burbulis, said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of the 5th Global Forum in Baku.
Gennady Burbulis highly appreciated the idea of organizing this series of international events. "I believe that the idea and the five-year history of the Global Baku Forum is an outstanding idea, which has been miraculously realized. Today, when the world community lives in fear of an uncertain future, when new threats and challenges are accumulating every day and conflicts are multiplying, the opportunity for dialogue in such a unique space, like modern Azerbaijan and its capital Baku," he pointed out.
"With the organization and participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his associates, the forum that gathers prominent figures of culture, science and business has become a rare space for today's global world, where the idea of dialogue and trust dominates. It recognizes that countries, peoples, individuals and their leaders are interested in living in peace and happiness. I see here a rare combination of professional intellectual level of discussion and an unconcealed ability to compassion," Gennady Burbulis stressed.
In this regard, he noted a rare culture of dialogue, supported at the sites of international events in Baku. "This is a culture of worthy attitude to the past and a culture of sincere belief that our future depends on us only. We can create such an atmosphere in Europe as well. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev demonstrates the ability to mediate between different spiritual, religious, historical and political systems. Here I get a good charge in order to cooperate and act on the most confidential basis," the former Secretary of State of the RSFSR stressed.
"The successive leadership of the outstanding Heydar Aliyev and actions of the current Azerbaijani authorities ensure the unique role of Azerbaijan as a confident, consistent, purposeful peacemaker, in spite of the tragedy of Nagorno-Karabakh. And I see that society supports this systemic position of the Azerbaijani leadership," Gennady Burbulis concluded.
