Georgian Dream wins elections across Georgia

Georgia continues to tally the results of the municipal elections held yesterday across the country. The Central Election Commission announced preliminary results.

With ballots counted from 2,283 of 3,061 polling stations in all 64 municipalities, Georgian Dream leads with 80.79% of votes. Strong Georgia – Lelo is in second place with 6.77%. Gakharia for Georgia is in third place with 3.87%. Turnout was 40.93%.

In major cities, Georgian Dream mayoral candidates have secured victories: Kakha Kaladze has won a third term as Tbilisi mayor with 71.58%, Nino Latsabidze has 92% in Rustavi, Davit Eremeishvili has secured 85.65% in Kutaisi, while in Batumi Giorgi Tsintsadze has secured 80.62%. In Poti, there was only one candidate for mayor – incumbent Mayor Beka Vacharadze – who received all the votes cast.
