The traffic of the Georgian Military Road is partially restricted, the road is open for only passenger cars and buses, the Department of Highways of the Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia told Vestnik Kavkaza today.
The press service of the State Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in North Ossetia, confirmed this information. "Now there are heavy vehicles on the Russian territory. They have been here for a long time, so heating and feeding centers are working on the territory from the city of Vladikavkaz to the Verkhny Lars settlement," the department explained.
At the same time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations drew attention to the fact that the decision on the opening of the Georgian Military Road for all types of vehicles depends on the Georgian side. "According to them, at the moment it is unsafe for trucks to use the road, so the movement is prohibited. As soon as we receive their permission, the road will be open without restrictions. There are no difficulties on the Russian side, we are waiting for Georgia's decision," the Ministry spokesperson said.
At the same time she did not give a forecast on the road traffic for the next weekend. "Weather has its own plans, so no one makes forecasts. So, unfortunately, the road is closed for trucks yet," the press service of the State Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in North Ossetia concluded.
